Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thrift Store Operations Manager to join our team at The Salvation Army USA Central Territory. As a key member of our retail operations team, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of our thrift store, ensuring a positive and productive work environment, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision
    • Directly supervise store workers and volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful operation of the store.
    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the site manager, adhering to Salvation Army policies and applicable laws.
  • Operations and Logistics
    • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and orderliness throughout the store, ensuring an attractive sales floor.
    • Oversee and participate in the sorting, tagging, pricing, and delivering of donated items to the sales floor.
    • Ensure adequate inventory is maintained on the sales floor and oversee the storage of donated items and overstocked donations.
  • Customer Service and Sales
    • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Investigate customer complaints and respond accordingly, following policies and procedures set forth in the Thrift Store Manual.
  • Financial Management
    • Count and verify all daily case receipts, endorse checks, and prepare bank deposits for the thrift store.
    • Complete financial spreadsheets as directed by the Divisional Headquarters Finance Department policies and procedures.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Maintain positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors, promoting a positive work atmosphere.
    • Facilitate team meetings and attend workshops, thrift store managers meetings, staff training, and other training activities as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of supervisory and retail management experience.
  • Ability to accept supervision and work independently or with a team of co-workers.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft products, Lotus Notes, and database programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid MN Driver's License and good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
