Position Summary
The Retail Store Team Member at The Salvation Army Central Territory is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for both customers and donors visiting the thrift shop. The team member is responsible for managing donated items, replenishing stock, and assisting customers during their shopping and checkout processes.
Work Schedule and Compensation
Part-time position, approximately 25 hours per week, with a pay rate of $11.50 per hour. There is potential for advancement to a full-time 3rd key position after a designated period.
Key Responsibilities
The Retail Store Team Member will receive comprehensive training in all essential duties. Responsibilities may vary throughout the shift or focus on specific tasks, including:
- Fostering a welcoming and enjoyable shopping and donation atmosphere for all visitors.
- Efficiently operating the cash register with accuracy.
- Processing, sorting, cleaning, organizing, and preparing merchandise for sale.
- Maintaining product visibility and availability on the sales floor to enhance customer experience.
- Assisting donors with the donation process and providing receipts as needed.
- Performing light cleaning duties to ensure a tidy store environment.
- Helping customers with their purchases as requested.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in customer service or retail is preferred.
- Basic math skills are necessary, and prior cash handling experience is advantageous.
- Successful completion of background checks is mandatory.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Regularly lifting up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds is required.
- Clear communication in English is essential.
- This position does not offer remote work options.
