About the Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services is responsible for the architecture, planning, implementation, and management of all AWS global infrastructure. Our mission is to ensure the cloud operates seamlessly.

We support all AWS data centers, encompassing the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that guarantee our clients have uninterrupted access to the innovations they depend on.

Our team tackles complex challenges, navigating numerous variables that influence the supply chain, and we are in search of skilled professionals eager to contribute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the formulation and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers across the Americas.
  • Oversee multiple utilities, EPC, and Owner's Engineers to deliver medium and high voltage power infrastructure, including negotiations and contracting.
  • Design and implement energy strategies that utilize capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc.) to lower long-term energy expenses.
  • Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Amazon CFE/RE team to identify strategic energy sourcing opportunities.
  • Execute electricity supply contracts that create new clean energy capacity on the grid, reduce costs, mitigate risks, and leverage beneficial opportunities for Amazon.
  • Manage a portfolio of intricate energy projects.
  • Work with internal teams and regulated utilities to implement and oversee energy projects in alignment with business timelines.
  • Identify and cultivate innovative cost-saving projects and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.
  • Conduct due diligence on market opportunities and develop them into cost-saving solutions for the organization.
  • Engage with utility regulators to establish policies and guidelines that support broader AWS strategies and objectives.

Our team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of utility power delivery to current and future AWS data centers throughout North and South America. We are uniquely positioned to execute innovative energy solutions that accelerate our sustainability goals, enhance power reliability, and optimize costs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in the utility or energy sector in a commercial/business development or technical capacity.
  • 1+ years of experience in analyzing energy projects and negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors.
  • 2+ years of experience managing multiple million-dollar power infrastructure contracts with external stakeholders to drive projects to completion.
  • 1+ years of experience in developing and delivering Medium Voltage and High Voltage electric infrastructure projects in a planning or project management role.
