About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Energy Strategy Manager to join our AWS Energy Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers in the Americas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers in the Americas.
  • Manage multiple utilities, EPC, and Owner's Engineers to deliver MV and HV power infrastructure, including negotiations and contracting.
  • Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc.) to reduce long-term energy costs.
  • Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Work collaboratively with Amazon's CFE/RE team to support the development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities.
  • Execute electricity supply contracts that create new clean energy capacity on the grid (through utilities), reduce cost, minimize risk, and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon.
  • Manage a portfolio of complex energy projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy projects to meet business timelines.
  • Identify and develop innovative cost-saving projects (capital and operational) and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.
  • Responsible for completing due diligence on in-market opportunities and developing those opportunities into cost savings for the business.
  • Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.

Our team is accountable for the full lifecycle of utility power delivery to existing and future AWS data centers throughout North and South America. Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience working in the utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role.
  • 1+ years of experience analyzing energy projects and negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors.
  • 2+ years of experience managing multiple million-dollar power infrastructure contracts with external stakeholders to drive projects to completion.
  • 1+ years of experience developing and delivering Medium Voltage and High Voltage electric infrastructure projects in a planning or project management role.
