Southern New England Area Coordinator

AIS, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Southern New England Area Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing a team of marine biologists and fisheries observers in the Southern New England region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of marine biologists and fisheries observers in the Southern New England region
- Coordinate trips between vessels and observers/monitors while considering safety, travel, deployment issues, cost control and scheduling needs
- Ensure observers/monitors communicate, document and submit all required data, enforcement issues, industry feedback, etc.
- Complete sea day trackers, weekly reports, captain interviews, and other reports
- Approve weekly observer timesheets and expenses
- Monitor scallop vessel call in telephone and assign IFS trips, as needed
- Monitor observer declare and deploy system (ODDS) calls, as needed
- Maintain all NEFOP certifications, and be willing to be trained in NEFOP training trips or already trained in NEFOP training trips
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a natural or life science discipline
- NEFOP, At-Sea Monitor, or Industry Funded Scallop Observer experience
- NEFOP certified or will be required to become NEFOP certified
- Ability to work Friday-Tuesday including nights and some holidays
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and drag a 200lb carcass
- Valid driver's license
- Proficient with MS Excel and Word
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Motivated, self-sufficient, independent, and a strong team player
- Ability to work efficiently with a strong concern for completeness and accuracy
- Excellent judgment, tactfulness, and high energy
- Ability to work long and odd hours
- Ability to tolerate interrupted sleep to respond to observers/monitors
- Ability to drive him/herself up to 8 hours a day
- Ability to sit and do computer work for up to 8 hours a day
Travel:
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to dock locations along the New England coastline
- Company vehicle will be provided
Location:
- Applicants must be currently living, or be willing to live, within 30 miles of Point Judith, RI
