Software Developer

The Application Developer role at FARMERS ALLIANCE MUTUAL INSURANCE C involves defining, developing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining new and existing software applications to support business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, analyzing, and troubleshooting software programs and applications.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with customers, technicians, and management to develop business requirements.
- Assist in project planning and project management.
- Design, run, and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs to correct errors, isolate areas for improvement, and debug.
- Debug and troubleshoot new and existing application software.
- Address business problems through professional and technical advisement.
- Develop and maintain user and system documentation, identifying and documenting technical specifications.
- Advise management on best practices in development tools, practices, and current trends.
- Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines and provide system support.
- Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Some travel may be required.
- Knowledge of applications development, spanning multiple platforms.
- Ability to develop in one or more of the following: HTML5, XML, XSLT, Java, J2EE, JavaScript, and web services.
- Database knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, performance tuning, and security is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, company manuals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related studies. Work experience will be considered as well.
