The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disbursement/Receipt Unit Supervisor to join our team in the Office of Child Support Services. As a key member of our Fiscal Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely disbursement of child support funds to respondents and the Department of Social Services.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise a team of bookkeeping staff responsible for maintaining accurate records of deposits and disbursements of over $500 million in child support funds annually.
- Review and reconcile ledger accounts to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare and distribute work schedules and train bookkeeping staff as needed.
- Resolve complex workflow problems and adjust work procedures and methods to improve efficiency.
- Review the work of subordinates to ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures.
- Verify accounting data for accuracy and completeness.
- Examine claims and vouchers for approval.
- Submit monthly reports to the Coordinator/Director for submission to various city agencies.
- Completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university, including 6 credits in accounting.
- Two years of satisfactory full-time bookkeeping experience.
- A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
