Job Title: Director of Human Resources

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Human Resources to join our team. As a key member of our staff leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that support the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • HR Policy Development: Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements, organizational goals, and HR best practices.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEOC standards.
  • Payroll and Benefits Administration: Administer payroll and benefits for a diverse team of over 100 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Training and Development: Design and implement training and development programs that support employee growth, enhance skills, and contribute to the organization's overall objectives.
  • Recruitment and Talent Management: Oversee recruitment and talent management process, including workforce planning, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution: Foster a positive workplace culture by proactively addressing employee concerns. Lead conflict resolution, mediate disputes.
  • Performance Management: Lead performance management processes to align employee performance with organization goals. Provide tools and guidance for managers to conduct effective reviews, set goals, and foster development.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the organization by championing policies and programs that embrace diverse perspectives and foster an inclusive culture.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with ARL's Leadership Director Team to provide HR insights, solutions, and strategic direction, ensuring alignment between human capital strategies and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: HR degree, certification, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with ADP HRIS system a plus.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal/written communication and multitasking skills.
  • Proven Track Record: Proven leadership and team-building abilities. Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
