Job Description

Job Summary:

This management position exists within the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Division. The Residence Manager supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned staff, responsible for personnel management, fiscal operations, inventory management, residential services, safety and welfare of residents, training personnel, directing and coordinating the activities of the staff, and administration of the residence.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides clinical services, including identifying aspects of treatment plans that can be integrated into residence activities, observing the delivery of services, and evaluating the quality of services.
  • Directs and supervises personnel, including establishing work schedules, instructing staff on tasks, and evaluating staff competencies and deficiencies.
  • Maintains environment and property accountability, ensuring compliance with federal and state health and safety standards, and conducting regular inspections of vehicles and property.
  • Provides quality assurance oversight, ensuring internal program compliance with federal, state, city, and agency regulatory requirements, and monitoring the quality of services provided to residents.
  • Assures consumer and family involvement, educating staff on the benefits of resident and family involvement, and developing a resident strategy for working with residents and families.
  • Conducts investigations, assisting in conducting internal investigations of untoward incidents as directed by the Vice President or designee.

Additional Tasks:

  • May be responsible for facility maintenance and reports needed repairs to the Director of Facility Maintenance.
  • May review drafts, procedures, and job descriptions.
  • May assist in hosting visitors from community, regulatory offices, and/or other agencies.
  • May be a member of an agency or division committee(s).

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of OPWDD, as well as state and federal regulations as they apply to the care and treatment of the developmentally disabled.
  • Knowledge of active treatment programs as they relate to the developmentally disabled.
  • Knowledge of sound supervisory practices, ability to lead a multi-disciplinary staff of professionals and paraprofessionals, and make decisions quickly in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, delegate tasks, and check on the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to manage resources, including money, material, time, and people, and serves as a role model to staff and residents.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications and Experience:

College degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, plus a minimum of three years' experience in providing direct services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Supervisory experience. Salary will be determined by educational level achieved.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree, preferably in a Human Services field. Direct care experience in an ICF or IRA residential setting, and a minimum of one year supervisory experience.
