Child Psychiatrist

Job Summary:
The Brockton Neighborhood Health Center is seeking a skilled Child Psychiatrist to provide medical care and treatment to patients by professional standards and established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Primary Care Physicians and Behavioral Health Clinicians to provide a comprehensive and appropriate continuum of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate patient referrals from Behavioral Health Clinicians.
- Perform diagnostic assessments for all referred patients.
- Provide direct patient care services within area of expertise.
- Manage patient medications.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
- Consult with Primary Care Providers regarding patient treatment.
- Provide intervention and referral for patients experiencing suicidal/homicidal ideation.
- Maintain a culturally sensitive practice, using interpreters and other assistance as needed.
- Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy to patients and their families.
- Refer patients to specialists and other practitioners as necessary.
- Review patient charts and ensure that treatment plans are developed and followed.
- Collaborate with other caregivers regarding patient education and rehabilitation.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with other physicians, behavioral health clinicians, administration, and clinical staff.
- Provide consultation to the on-call physician for mental health emergencies.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives to monitor and improve patient care.
- Maintain productivity as outlined in the contracted agreement.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and respond appropriately to patient and family communications.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Ensure dignity in the provision of care.
- Utilize good judgment in the resolution of problems, clinical and non-clinical.
- Act independently and make decisions using good judgment.
- Anticipate and address new problems as part of the problem-solving process.
- Participate as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provide technical assistance and training to other team members regarding psychotropic medications and mental illness.
- Participate in community outreach activities to identify, recruit, and educate patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Be pleasant, courteous, and considerate of patients and colleagues.
- Attend required and pertinent meetings.
- Attend scheduled supervision sessions.
- Maintain clinical competence through ongoing medical education and training.
Requirements:
- Current Massachusetts licensure and certification.
- Board certification in Adult Psychiatry; additional certification in children is helpful.
- Bilingual preferred.
Working Conditions:
A busy community health center located in a downtown business district. Occasional long hours may be required. Rotating call responsibilities. Potential exposure to patient blood and body fluids.
