About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal 2 to join our team at the State of Montana. As a key member of our legal unit, you will provide advanced paralegal functions in support of our agency's legal practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform litigation support, administrative rulemaking, file and records management, and document preparation under the supervision of the Chief Legal Counsel.
  • Conduct legal research and writing, legislative bill tracking and drafting, outreach and customer relations, and creative problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with other staff to develop and advance the scope of the position and contribute to shaping the unit's high-quality work product.
Requirements
  • Thorough understanding of legal concepts, theory, and practice, terminology, procedure, and working knowledge of the State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, computer or automated legal research experience (LEXIS), and demonstrated analytical and observational ability.
  • Team-oriented, positive, and professional attitude, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
