Job Overview

The University of Virginia seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Healthcare Scheduling Specialist to join its team. As a key member of the Access Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient experiences from scheduling to follow-up appointments. This position requires excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule multi-specialty and multi-disciplinary patient appointments within defined timeframes, demonstrating accuracy and efficiency.
  • Advocate for patients while coordinating support services as needed to ensure a smooth experience.
  • Investigate complex scheduling cases, document findings, and coordinate appointments with Pre-Arrival Unit staff.
  • Maintain and update demographic and insurance information for each appointment, performing verification functions and obtaining two patient identifiers consistently.
  • Ensure referrals are attached to appointments and accurate insurance information is documented, researching and updating carrier requirements as necessary.

Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
  • 2 years relevant experience required; Access Associate fully cross-trained to cover multiple specialties considered in lieu of experience.
  • No licensure required.

Physical Demands
  • Sitting for prolonged periods, repetitive motion (computer and mouse use), and adequate auditory and visual skills required.

Estimated Salary Range: $17.31 - $26.83 Hourly
