Technical Support Specialist

We are seeking a knowledgeable Technical Support Specialist to enhance our IT department's capabilities.

Position Title:

Reports to: IT Support Supervisor

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly

FTE: 100% (40 hrs/week)

Compensation:
$20 - $24 per hour, based on experience

Job Summary

The IT Support Technicians play a crucial role in the Naropa University IT department, providing essential support to all members of the community. Your expertise in troubleshooting and technical assistance will be invaluable in ensuring a seamless technology experience for students, faculty, and staff.

As part of a diverse and skilled Information Technology team, you will contribute to making technology accessible, user-friendly, and secure.

Your work will be supervised by the IT Support Supervisor, primarily conducted on-site at Naropa University campuses.

Flexible scheduling options and remote work may be available after an initial evaluation period.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain computers and related equipment for staff, faculty, and students across Naropa campuses.
  • Assist in onboarding processes, including creating and provisioning Microsoft Accounts and orienting new users on university hardware.
  • Support the installation and upkeep of essential software, including email and productivity applications.
  • Provide prompt and empathetic service in response to support requests, addressing issues with various devices and making recommendations for repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain an organized helpdesk workflow, ensuring timely updates and responses to support tickets.
  • Work on assigned tasks and projects related to the IT department's equipment and services.
  • Suggest improvements to processes and service levels to enhance overall service quality.
  • Assist with offboarding procedures and hardware recovery.
  • Provide on-location support at the Business Services Center as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum length of prior applicable professional experience required:

  • Two (2) years of experience with computer hardware and software installations and troubleshooting.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a technical support role.

Other Experience, Knowledge, Skills, or Competencies Requirements

  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions


Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs unassisted.


During regular daily activities, employee must be able to do the following: sit, stand, walk, handle/finger, bend at the waist, reach above shoulder level, kneel, crouch.

During regular daily activities, employee may be exposed to: interruptions/distractions, dust, heights.
