We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at the University of California San Diego Health. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients through our healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-register, pre-admit, and admit patients by telephone and/or in person, ensuring accurate and timely collection of demographic information and insurance benefits.
- Review and obtain prior authorizations, patient estimates, and cash collections, interacting with physicians, office personnel, and other hospital staff as needed.
- Assist patients with discharge and post-hospital care, providing support and guidance to ensure a seamless transition.
- Collaborate with hospital departments, including Utilization Review and Patient Business Services, to ensure correct and timely reimbursement.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Minimum one year of recent experience in customer service or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex healthcare systems.
- Ability to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- UC San Diego - Extended Studies Intensive Revenue Cycle Course Certificate.
- Experience in a medical office or hospital setting, with knowledge of healthcare billing and insurance practices.
