Job Title: Payroll Accountant ILocation: Downtown San DiegoThis role focuses on supporting the accounting functions related to payroll, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll records and contributing to the overall financial reporting process.
Responsibilities:- Accounting Support: Assist in maintaining accurate payroll-related accounting records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of payroll accounts, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with accounting standards.
- Financial Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of payroll-related financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis and other ad-hoc financial reports as needed.
- Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of payroll-related tax returns, including quarterly and annual tax reports.
- Internal Controls: Support the development and maintenance of internal controls related to payroll to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud.
- Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries related to payroll and accounting records.
- Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations concerning payroll and accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- Prior payroll accounting experience.
- Insurance industry experience is preferred.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to: the individual's skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certification requirements; office location and other geographic considerations; other business and organizational needs.
With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure.
