Mother-Baby Clinical Nurse Leader

Position Overview: The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) plays a pivotal role in enhancing nursing practices within the Mother-Baby unit at Virginia Jobs. This position is designed for an experienced nurse who is dedicated to fostering professional growth, implementing evidence-based practices, and driving quality improvement initiatives within a collaborative healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professional Development: The CNL is responsible for the continuous development and evaluation of clinical processes that engage nursing staff in lifelong learning. This includes mentoring new hires and supporting ongoing education and certification efforts.
- Evidence-Based Practice: The CNL will assess and prioritize unit-based needs that can benefit from evidence-based solutions. This involves collaborating with the Unit-Based Leadership (UBL) team and other stakeholders to implement effective practice changes.
- Quality Improvement: Working closely with the UBL, the CNL will address quality and safety concerns proactively, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained.
Professional Development Initiatives:
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of new nursing staff towards competency goals.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the development of nursing competencies in collaboration with Central Nursing Professional Development.
- Facilitate orientation sessions to share expertise and knowledge.
Evidence-Based Practice Implementation:
- Stay informed about strategic outcomes and practice patterns within the microsystem.
- Guide team members through the phases of the evidence-based practice process.
- Lead initiatives that align with unit strategic goals.
- Ensure proper categorization of clinical improvements and adherence to established standards.
Quality Improvement Responsibilities:
- Utilize quality improvement methodologies to enhance patient care.
- Assist in identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with performance improvement coaches to support evidence-based practices.
General Duties:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care in collaboration with the UBL.
- Engage in nursing governance at both the microsystem and organizational levels.
- Seek feedback from nursing staff and clinical collaborators to improve practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation: The position offers a competitive salary range of $89,000 to $143,228.80 annually.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: A Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a registered nurse in a relevant practice area.
- Licensure: A valid nursing license in Virginia and CNL certification are mandatory.
Physical Demands: The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, perform physical tasks, and communicate effectively. Candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to various clinical environments.
