Position Overview
We are in search of skilled and proactive Nurse Managers to oversee our Main Operating Room (OR) team. We seek leaders with specialized service line knowledge in an academic Level I Trauma Center. This position is crucial for ensuring the provision of superior surgical care, enhancing operational efficiency, and cultivating a cooperative team environment. The Nurse Manager will take charge of resource management, service line development, and upholding the highest standards of clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management:
* Lead, mentor, and cultivate a proficient nursing team.
* Encourage a culture of teamwork, accountability, and ongoing improvement.
* Supervise staff scheduling, performance assessments, and professional growth.
* Create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for all team members.
* Effectively address and resolve staff issues and conflicts.
Operational Oversight:
* Ensure smooth daily operations of the Main OR.
* Manage resource distribution, including staffing and supplies.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and surgical results.
* Implement and uphold compliance with health and safety standards.
* Oversee the upkeep and functionality of OR equipment and facilities.
Clinical Excellence:
* Maintain high standards of nursing practice and patient care.
* Monitor adherence to clinical protocols and safety regulations.
* Facilitate continuous education and training for nursing staff.
* Develop and execute evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes.
* Ensure meticulous and comprehensive documentation of patient care activities.
Quality Improvement:
* Spearhead initiatives to improve patient safety and care quality.
* Analyze performance metrics to identify and implement enhancement strategies.
* Engage in the formulation and enforcement of policies and procedures.
* Conduct regular audits and evaluations to ensure quality and compliance.
* Collaborate with quality improvement teams to address any areas of concern.
Patient and Family Advocacy:
* Ensure compassionate and respectful care for patients and their families.
* Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team.
* Promptly and professionally address patient and family concerns.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Educational Background:
* Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required.
* Master's degree in nursing or a related field preferred.
Licensure and Certifications:
* Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility for Virginia licensure.
* Certification in Operating Room Nursing (CNOR) preferred.
Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience in an operating room setting.
* At least 2 years of Nurse leadership or management experience.
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
* Strong understanding of OR procedures and surgical workflows.
* Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
Soft Skills:
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
