Medical Director of Lung Transplant

Virginia Commonwealth University Division of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Medical Director to lead its Lung Transplant program.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide administrative leadership to the lung transplant program, ensuring compliance with governing agencies and developing policies and practice guidelines.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team in providing comprehensive care and management of patients before and after lung transplant.
- Develop and implement performance improvement guidelines, policies, and protocols to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Participate in outreach activities with multiple constituencies, both within and outside the Hospital and University, to promote the lung transplant program.
- Guide the development of teaching programs for medical students, residents, and fellows in the management of patients with pre and post-lung transplant patients.
- MD degree or equivalent.
- Board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-certified or board-eligible in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine by appointment start date.
- Meets the qualifications and requirements of national accrediting agencies for this position (UNOS).
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellence in patient care and teaching.
- Dedicated fellowship training in transplant pulmonology.
- Experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment as a faculty member at VCU.
