Job Summary:

The Medical Technologist will be responsible for performing a variety of manual and automated procedures in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, and Hematology Laboratories. This includes developing, performing, evaluating, interpreting, correlating, and validating the accuracy of laboratory procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical laboratory science and excellent technical skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing procedures on a variety of biological specimens using manual and automated procedures
  • Monitor Quality Control systems and measurements and collaborate in the diagnosis and treatment of patients
  • Provide education for other healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers
  • Collect blood and blood products from patients
  • Spending 30% of time in direct patient care
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory or a related science
  • Board Certified via Board of Registry or American Medical Technologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
  • Preferred experience of 1 year of Clinical Laboratory experience
  • Independent judgment and responsibility
  • Confidence in technical skills
  • US Citizenship
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English language

  • All procedures are to be done in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth for beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment

  • Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process
