Job Summary

As a Security Officer at King's Daughters, you will play a vital role in protecting the life and property of all individuals on our premises. Your responsibilities will include patrolling our buildings and grounds to prevent fires, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry, as well as enforcing parking regulations and assisting funeral directors with transportation.

Duties and Essential Functions
  • Ensure the continuous operation of security equipment and systems, including CCTV, access control, and burglar alarms, by conducting regular maintenance and inspections.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as smoking and carrying forbidden articles, and apprehend or expel individuals engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized presence, and permit authorized individuals to enter the property.
  • Document activities on the Daily Activity Report and maintain current information in lost and found logs.
  • Investigate incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Medical Center staff, visitors, physicians, or patients.
  • Assist medical personnel in controlling hostile or combative patients.
  • Remember and effectively respond to Medical Center emergency policies and procedures.
Education, License, Certifications, and Other Requirements

We require a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and an Associate Degree in a related field or one year of prior security experience. You must also achieve and maintain the following certifications within 90 days of starting:

  • Taser certification.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI).

A valid driver's license, clean driving history, and clear criminal history are required for those driving KDMC vehicles. Any previous criminal convictions, poor driving history, and poor past employment history could be reasons for disqualification.

Preferred Qualifications

Achieving and maintaining International Association for Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Healthcare Security Officer certification is preferred.

Working Environment

As a Security Officer, you will frequently work in outside weather conditions. You may be occasionally exposed to heat and cold extremes and temperature changes, as well as loud noises, moderate noise, vibration, toxic conditions, odors, dust, and poor ventilation.

Physical Demands

You will occasionally be required to maintain a stationary position (standing or sitting), frequently walk and move about, and frequently operate a computer and other equipment. You will also frequently use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices, occasionally lift and/or move patients up to 100 pounds, and constantly communicate with patients, customers, and other care team members requiring talking and hearing.
