About the Role

The Member Services Representative is an entry-level position at State Employees' Credit Union, providing foundational knowledge of branch operations. This role involves performing routine branch duties and following standard branch procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional member service by responding to inquiries, managing cash, and processing transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend comprehensive training programs to develop knowledge of branch operations and member services.
  • Complete core modules on checking accounts, member eligibility, and other essential topics.
  • Comply with all Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure secure access to member information.
  • Follow security and control procedures to protect branch assets.
  • Develop basic knowledge of cash handling and balancing procedures.
  • Assist members with service requests, including account maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Process foreign and domestic wire transfers, and help with foreign currency orders.
  • Review and take action on negative checking and share reports.
  • Begin learning to open basic accounts and provide referrals for financial products and services.
  • Participate in additional training and continuing education to enhance knowledge of branch operations.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are mandatory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate of Arts/Science degree via the North Carolina Community College Transfer Program.
  • Consistently demonstrates SECU's Core Values.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

The Member Services Representative will work in an office setting with physical proximity to other employees and members. The role requires a substantial amount of sitting and involves using computer keyboards, telephones, and other equipment.
