Surgical Resident PGY 2 Position

Nuvance Health is committed to providing exceptional medical education and training to its residents. As a PGY-2 Resident in Surgery, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of surgical education.
Responsibilities- Develop a personalized learning plan with guidance from experienced faculty members.
- Participate in safe and effective patient care under supervision, with increasing responsibility as you progress in your training.
- Engage in educational and scholarly activities, including teaching and supervising other residents and students.
- Collaborate with the medical staff and adhere to established practices, procedures, and policies of the institution.
- Participate in program and departmental committees, focusing on patient care activities.
- Evaluate the quality of education provided by the program and contribute to its improvement.
- Develop a deep understanding of ethical, socioeconomic, and medical/legal issues affecting graduate medical education and apply cost containment measures in patient care.
- Comply with federal, state, and Nuvance regulations regarding licensure and registration for the practice of medicine.
- Respond to the Office of Graduate Medical Education and the resident's program/department for information related to position/rank and function.
- Adhere to all departmental, GME, Nuvance, and ACGME policies and procedures.
- Engage in activities promoting a positive attitude and a healthy examination of the physician's role.
- Maintain and model REACH Values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor) and Nuvance Health Foundational Values (Personal, Imaginative, Agile, Connected).
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance to conferences, lectures, and other academic learning assignments, with patient care always being the top priority.
- Graduation from a medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
- Graduation from a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Graduation from a medical school outside the United States or Canada, holding or will hold prior to appointment, a valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
