Medical Records Department Manager

Oregon Urology Institute is seeking a highly skilled Medical Records Lead to join our team. As a key member of our medical records department, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective medical records system.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the assembly, distribution, and maintenance of patients' medical records.
- Coordinate the workflow of medical records staff and clinical personnel to ensure medical records needs are met.
- Monitor the accuracy of patient records and documentation of data collection in the electronic medical record.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records and adhere to HIPAA policies.
- Assist departments with outside audits and provide medical records as needed.
- Recommend and implement operating policies and procedures.
- Perform duties of Medical Records Specialist or Medical Records Resource as needed.
- Manage and coordinate a system for safeguarding and updating active and inactive patient medical records.
- Participate in committees and recommend policy changes as necessary.
- Ensure timely communication of clinic and department information to staff.
- Work with compliance officer/CEO/COO/CFO to process subpoenas and depositions.
- Research new technology to improve maintenance, handling, and retention of patient medical records.
- Manage staff, conduct interviews, recommend hiring, orient, train, assign work, evaluate performance, and handle disciplinary action as needed.
- Interact with Human Resources to resolve complex employee relation problems.
- Minimum of two years of medical records experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Health information/medical records background highly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Work is performed in an office environment, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.
- May be required to lift 25 pounds.
- Requires sitting for prolonged periods and some bending, stooping, and stretching.
