Position Overview:
The Senior Buyer / Planner is responsible for establishing and managing SAP planning and procurement parameters, as well as maintaining material master data for assigned product lines. This role involves leading supply chain projects and acting as the primary contact for daily operations, providing expert guidance to address supply chain challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain effective relationships with manufacturing operations and key suppliers.
- Act as the first point of escalation for part shortages, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
- Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives and monitor corrective actions.
- Participate in quarterly supplier business reviews to assess performance and align on current business needs.
Inventory Management:
Oversee the creation and execution of inventory strategies for strategic product lines, ensuring that inventory levels meet demand while achieving established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Sales & Operations Planning:
Engage as a key stakeholder in the Sales & Operations Planning process, contributing to the development and implementation of best practices in Supply Chain Management to enhance customer service and meet planning and purchasing KPIs.
Logistics and Contracts:
Negotiate logistics models with strategic suppliers in collaboration with the Strategic Purchasing team to optimize inventory turnover and financial performance. Develop and maintain quantity contracts while providing accurate forecasts to suppliers to ensure inventory flexibility.
Cost Management:
Support the Technical Cost Change (TCC) funnel aimed at improving Product Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) through collaboration with local and global partners. Propose design changes for cost reductions or supplier transfers based on thorough analysis.
Product Release and Compliance:
Process Object Approval (OA) and Agile workflows to facilitate timely product releases. Implement price changes on purchase orders and monitor Purchase Price Variance to achieve pricing objectives. Communicate changes in specifications or project plans to suppliers, ensuring that commercial considerations are integrated into the change process.
Collaboration:
Represent the Purchasing/Planning organization in product steering board meetings, collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Production departments to coordinate changes that minimize inventory and production disruptions. Ensure that supply chain initiatives are effectively communicated and executed within the product portfolio.
Qualifications:
Education: BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience: A minimum of five years in Purchasing, Planning, or Supply Chain roles.
Skills:
- Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills for presenting information to executive management.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of supply chain concepts.
Travel Requirements: Up to 20% travel may be required.
