Position Title: Educator Support Specialist at Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare

Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare is seeking an Educator Support Specialist to provide essential support services within the framework of New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).

Company Overview: Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare is dedicated to delivering confidential telephonic assistance and counseling, aligned with the mission of NYSUT.

The primary function of the Educator Support Specialist is to deliver telephonic support and counseling services, showcasing expertise in educational matters while ensuring consumer-friendly interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage actively in managing telephone inquiries and requests in a supportive manner as part of the NYSUT initiative.
  • Cultivate and sustain peer-to-peer relationships to recognize essential support for emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral adjustments.
  • Leverage personal experiences to build rapport with individuals served.
  • Ensure prompt responses to all service inquiries.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy when interacting with referrals, inquiries, and other contacts.
  • Recognize and address the needs of individuals served with respect and sensitivity to cultural and socio-economic factors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of teaching or educational experience within the New York State public school system.
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • A valid driver's license or alternative means of transportation is required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Successful completion of the internal training program at UBHC.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior counseling experience or training is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer usage.
  • Essential hearing and clear speech capabilities.

Work Environment:

  • Managing phone requests under pressure.
  • Favorable working conditions in a clean, well-lit, and moderately loud environment.

Special Conditions:

  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
