Position Overview

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring ITW Evercoat adheres to all pertinent environmental regulations and standards. This role requires a thorough understanding of the permits and programs governed by the EPA.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duties include the development, implementation, and management of environmental programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position will foster the growth of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensure compliance with governmental bodies while cultivating strong community relationships.
  • Manage and submit data required for chemical reporting, including compliance with the Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) rule under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), EPCRA Tier I/II Reporting, and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Sara.
  • Oversee site compliance with the US EPA TSCA Chemical Substance Inventory.
  • Coordinate and implement the RCRA Hazardous Waste management program, focusing on waste minimization techniques and Bi-Annual Hazardous Waste reporting.
  • Actively manage the site Synthetic Minor Air permit and emissions reporting.
  • Lead initiatives addressing Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) for compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Apply knowledge of National Volatile Organic Compound Emission Standards for Consumer and Commercial Products.
  • Maintain chemical substance inventory and environmental data sheets.
  • Ensure NPDES compliance and implement SWPPP and SPCC protocols.
  • Facilitate environmental agency site visits and inspections.
  • Serve as the environmental representative for all management of change activities, including capital projects.
  • Develop and deliver all regulatory-required training in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure compliance with global regulations concerning chemical products.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of direct experience in an environmental role within a manufacturing setting, with specific knowledge of chemical manufacturing environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of EPA regulations and the ability to interpret state and federal regulations for facility compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, along with a basic understanding of regulatory systems.
  • Professional certifications and experience with ISO and other industry standards, as well as Risk Management Plans (RMP), are preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills.
