Job Title: Peer Outreach Navigator

At the San Diego LGBT Community Center, we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Peer Outreach Navigator. This is a part-time, regular, non-exempt position working an estimated 20 hours per week.

Job Summary:

The Peer Outreach Navigator will conduct street outreach to transitional-age youth experiencing housing instability, ensuring that program participants are linked to internal and external resources that enhance their well-being. This role requires a strong understanding of the LGBTQ community and a passion for providing client-centered, trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct street outreach in areas where LGBTQ youth congregate, targeting those experiencing homelessness.
  • Collaborate with coordinated street outreach partners and participate in coordinated street outreach events.
  • Provide linkages to emergency shelters, drop-in centers, and other relevant resources.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of participant services, including case notes.
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience providing customer or guest services.
  • Professional skills in teamwork and collaboration, optimism, and a growth mindset.
  • Language skills in English.
  • Valid CA driver's license, relevant car insurance, and personal vehicle to drive for job-related tasks.
  • Personal experience with mental illness, homelessness, and/or in recovery from substance use.
Work Location:

This position is based in the East Village Neighborhood in the City of San Diego, with occasional work outside of the office in the community.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Compensation: $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
