Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Outreach Specialist will be responsible for (1) educating and reaching out to farm workers in underserved regions about the USDA Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR) Grant Program, and (2) facilitating the intake application process for disaster-relief payment distribution. A comprehensive understanding of the agricultural labor force is essential for this role. Direct communication with farm workers and collaboration with the UFW Organizing Team will be crucial aspects of this position. This role is remote and designed as a temporary assignment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in outreach initiatives and community events.
  • Assist farm workers in completing applications for the USDA FFWR Grant Program.
  • Utilize UFW's peer-to-peer texting platform effectively during outreach activities.
  • Document participation of workers in outreach efforts.
  • Create engaging bilingual content for social media; foster community engagement through digital platforms that support UFW's organizing objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of compelling content for digital and texting communications.
  • Provide weekly reports on outreach outcomes and the effectiveness of digital media campaigns.
  • Perform general administrative support tasks as required.
  • Complete additional project-related tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not involve supervisory duties.

Certificates and Licenses:
