Job Summary

The Sales Manager at Highgate is responsible for driving revenue growth and maximizing occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR) through effective sales strategies and techniques. This role requires a strong understanding of the hotel industry and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend daily Highgate Hotel Business Review (HHBR) meeting to stay informed about hotel operations and sales performance.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the hotel's operations, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services, and Reservations, to effectively communicate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date on company sales policies and SOPs, and ensure that the sales team is aware of and adheres to these policies.
  • Meet or exceed set sales goals and targets, and operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget.
  • Participate in required and Saturday office coverage as scheduled, and be available to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Initiate and follow up on leads, and maintain an active sales solicitation program to drive revenue growth.
  • Monitor production of top accounts and evaluate trends within the market to inform sales strategies.
  • Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program, and meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours, and site inspections to build relationships and drive revenue growth.
  • Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments, parties, sales blitzes, and other initiatives to drive revenue growth.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner, and be familiar with all Highgate Hotel sales policies and selling techniques.
  • Conduct professional, thorough site inspections of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property.
  • Use the hotel's computerized sales management system to manage the hotel's business, including generating reports, entering business, blocking space, and building accounts.
  • Meet and greet onsite contacts, and abide by Prime Selling Time (PST) to ensure optimal sales performance.
  • Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities, and events to drive revenue growth.
  • Review meeting planner evaluations with the Director of Sales to ensure that issues receive follow-up, and entertain clients to build relationships and drive revenue growth.
  • Handle inquiries as part of the Inquiry Day Program, and perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

  • College coursework in a related field is helpful, and experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required, and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests is essential.
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines is critical, and a strong understanding of Windows, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing is required.
  • Long hours may be required, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly is necessary.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential, and the ability to maintain regular attendance and adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards is required.
  • A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and a positive attitude are essential for success in this role.
