Patient Transport Associate

Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the incumbent is responsible for transporting patients, specimens, and errands to other units, special study areas, and laboratories throughout the hospital complex. The incumbent retrieves ED equipment from patient care units and is responsible for internal ED patient transport.
Key Responsibilities- Transports patients to inpatient units, clinics, and special study areas.
- Delivers specimens to laboratories not on the pneumatic tube system.
- Transports deceased patients to the Morgue.
- Retrieves and tracks equipment owned by Emergency Department and ambulance companies.
- Runs errands as needed by clinical and Administrative Staff.
- Provides internal transport/escort of patients within the Emergency Department.
- Ability to read, speak, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to push, pull, and move patients up to 300 pounds.
- Ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Successful completion of on-the-job orientation and training.
- Working knowledge of Safety, Universal Precaution, and OSHA guidelines.
