Patient Care Associate

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Associate to join our team in the Emergency Department Acute Psychiatry Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a Patient Care Associate, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises.
Job Summary:The Patient Care Associate will assist patients with activities of daily living, vital signs, phlebotomy, glucometry, electrocardiograms, and transportation. You will also observe and report any changes in patients' mental status, behavior, or physical condition to the team. Additionally, you will maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and observations.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct care and support to patients in the Emergency Department Acute Psychiatry Service
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, vital signs, phlebotomy, glucometry, electrocardiograms, and transportation
- Observe and report any changes in patients' mental status, behavior, or physical condition to the team
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and observations
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment
- Effective customer service orientation and ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff, and providers
- Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and superior organizational skills
- Ability to lift and transport patients using the appropriate physical technique in a safe manner for the patient and self
- Shift differential for evening, nights, and weekends
