The Hawaii State Department of Education is dedicated to recruiting highly qualified educators for every classroom. Except for designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) roles, the minimum requirement to apply for a teaching, librarian, or counseling position is a Bachelor's Degree.
If hired without completing a Teacher Education Program, candidates have a maximum of three years to secure a valid Hawaii teaching license. Enrollment in a program is necessary to maintain employment with the Department. Throughout each year of service, candidates must demonstrate active progress toward fulfilling Hawaii licensing requirements as outlined by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is essential to ensure that the program enrolled aligns with the teaching position held.
