Job Overview

Radiology Manager

The Radiology Manager is responsible for delivering radiographic services to patients while overseeing the functionality of imaging technology, film development, and ensuring the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and medications. This role is integral to departmental operations, participating in team activities and initiatives to guarantee personalized, patient-focused healthcare for all individuals admitted to a Post Acute Medical facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Team Leadership: Directly supervises and collaborates with Radiology Technologists in patient care, working alongside departmental leadership to enhance service delivery. Ensures billing accuracy and timely submission of charges.

Documentation: Maintains comprehensive records of all procedures and compiles analytical reports. Evaluates Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) data, making informed recommendations for enhancements and following up with relevant management.

Service Competency: Provides, delegates, and supports the delivery of radiology services, ensuring proficient and competent practice.

Staff Scheduling: Organizes and adjusts staffing as required, managing overtime and unscheduled shifts; coordinates relief staff and maintains an on-call roster for the department.

Effective Communication: Ensures accurate documentation and communication regarding scheduled procedures, staffing, and any unusual occurrences to maintain continuity of care and optimal resource utilization.

Performance Enhancement: Identifies and addresses issues related to patients, families, visitors, staff, and physicians. After thorough analysis, implements corrective actions as necessary and communicates outcomes to supervisors. Fosters effective working relationships with all hospital personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiology program. Engages in ongoing education, including annual safety training and radiation dose reduction techniques.

Licensure/Certification: Current ARRT or ARDMS certification in Ultrasound, or meets state requirements for ultrasound performance. Current BLS certification is mandatory. All Radiology Managers must maintain current BLS and Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements while employed.

Experience: Requires two to five years of radiology experience in an acute or LTACH setting, including prior CR, PACS, and RIS experience, along with at least two years of supervisory experience. Preferred experience includes two years in CT or Ultrasound.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


• Physical ability to lift and transport patients and equipment up to fifty pounds without assistance; capable of performing various physical tasks.

• Effective communication skills to relay information accurately regarding patient conditions.

• Strong analytical skills to assess performance and implement improvements.

• Ability to operate all necessary radiology equipment and technology.
