Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with bilingual abilities to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients, work collaboratively with other staff, and assume relief charge duties when designated.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe and effective direct care to patients, adhering to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work within the nursing process to provide individualized care plans, incorporating age-specific considerations and discharge planning.
  • Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel.
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, and document and communicate clinical findings.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, in accordance with Hospitals standards.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, and attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Essential: Program Graduate, Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate.
  • Nonessential: Bachelor's Degree, Nursing.

Experience:

  • Essential: None specified.
  • Nonessential: Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo.

Credentials:

  • Essential: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days, RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM.
  • Nonessential: Nationally Certified in area of specialty, PALS, TNCC and/or ENPC.

Physical Conditions:

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.

Working conditions:

  • Essential: Sign Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE.
