Position Overview

Peraton is looking for a Senior Malware Reverse Engineer to provide expertise in support of critical missions. This role involves in-depth technical evaluation of malicious software through both controlled execution and static analysis of assembly language, employing strategies to navigate and overcome various obfuscation techniques. The goal is to understand the functionality and capabilities of malware, assist in attributing it to adversarial sources, and identify indicators of compromise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate documentation and insights that facilitate malware detection, signature development, and remediation strategies.
  • Utilize advanced skills in malware reverse engineering to dissect and analyze complex malicious code using a variety of tools, such as disassemblers, debuggers, hex editors, unpackers, virtual environments, and network monitoring tools.
  • Conduct reverse engineering on known and suspected malware samples.
  • Examine instances of malicious code to ascertain attack vectors, payloads, and assess the impact of data breaches.
  • Compile comprehensive reports detailing findings and analysis.
  • Engage in research focused on malware, vulnerabilities, and exploitation methodologies.
  • Identify weaknesses in binaries, analyze shellcode, and propose preventative or defensive measures.
  • Reverse-engineer malware and integrate findings into thorough reports, including behavioral analysis, identified command and control infrastructure, and suggested mitigation techniques.
  • Develop both network and host-based signatures to detect specific malware threats.
  • Advise on heuristic or anomaly detection strategies.
  • Compare new malware samples against existing signatures for identification purposes.
Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • Associate's degree with 13 years of relevant experience, Bachelor's degree with 11 years, Master's degree with 9 years, or Doctoral degree with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience in malware reverse engineering.
  • Active TS SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CISSP, GIAC GREM, or CREA certification is highly desirable.
