Senior Malware Analysis Engineer

Peraton is in search of a Senior Malware Reverse Engineer to contribute to critical missions within the Intelligence Community. This role involves the meticulous examination of malicious software through both controlled execution and static analysis of assembly language, employing advanced techniques to navigate and counteract methods that hinder analysis. The objective is to determine the software's functionality, capabilities, and potential call-backs, while assisting in attributing threats to adversarial infrastructures and identifying indicators of compromise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive documentation and insights that facilitate malware detection, signature development, and effective mitigation strategies.
- Utilize advanced skills in malware reverse engineering to scrutinize and interpret complex malicious code using various tools such as disassemblers, debuggers, hex editors, unpackers, virtual machines, and network analysis tools.
- Conduct thorough reverse-engineering processes for both known and suspected malware samples.
- Investigate malicious code incidents to ascertain attack vectors, payloads, and the scope of damage and data breaches.
- Compile detailed reports outlining findings and analyses.
- Engage in research focused on malicious software, vulnerabilities, and exploitation methodologies.
- Identify weaknesses in binaries, analyze shell-code, and propose preventative or defensive measures.
- Reverse-engineer malware and integrate analysis results into comprehensive reports, detailing behaviors, identified command and control infrastructures, and mitigation techniques.
- Develop both network and host-based signatures to detect specific malware threats.
- Advise on heuristic or anomaly-based detection strategies.
- Compare new malware samples against existing signatures to enhance detection capabilities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate's degree with 13 years of relevant experience, Bachelor's degree with 11 years, Master's degree with 9 years, or Doctoral degree with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience in malware reverse engineering is essential.
- Active TS SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is mandatory.
- Possession of CISSP, GIAC GREM, or CREA Certification is highly preferred.
