    Position Overview: The Licensed Acupuncturist collaborates within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive acupuncture services aimed at alleviating pain for the varied patient demographic at Petaluma Health Center. This role encompasses both individual and group treatment settings, along with providing relevant health education to our patients.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Essential Duties:
    • Employs acupuncture techniques to stimulate specific points on or near the body’s surface through needle insertion to alleviate pain perception or restore physiological balance.
    • May incorporate needles, manual therapies, acupressure, and thermal therapies as permitted within the L.A.c scope of practice.
    • Delivers accurate diagnoses, supported by medical findings, utilizing standardized examination methods recognized by the medical community, including TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Western diagnostic practices.
    • Conducts routine evaluations, management, and treatment services.
    • Educates patients on suitable therapeutic exercises, qi exercises, breathing techniques, meditation, and other self-care practices within the L.A.c scope of practice.
    • When appropriate, provides dietary and nutritional counseling as per the L.A.c scope of practice.
    • Identifies opportunities for enhancing patient care and presents recommendations to the Chief Medical Officer, Team Director of Integrative Medicine and Wellness, and Internal Quality Improvement Committee.
    • Engages in quality improvement initiatives for the program in collaboration with other offered services.
    • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

    Education/Experience:

    • Current licensure to practice as a L.A.c issued by the California Board of Acupuncture

    • (optional) Certification by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology or Oriental Medicine

    Desired Skills:
    • Experience in a community health center and/or providing acupuncture within a community acupuncture framework.

    • Bilingual / conversational Spanish preferred Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to inquiries from patients, colleagues, and others as necessary. Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal preferred.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    • Must maintain continuing education as required for certification renewals

    • Must possess an active and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate

    • Candidates must successfully meet PHC's credentialing and privileging requirements

    • Medi-Cal enrollment preferred
