Position Overview:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Emergency Department (ED), you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care to a diverse range of individuals. Under the supervision of registered nurses, physicians, optometrists, and podiatrists, you will be responsible for performing and documenting patient care, administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring that medical equipment and supplies are adequately maintained and stocked.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and document both objective and subjective patient data and observations.
  • Contribute to nursing assessments by reporting all relevant data to the supervising RN or authorized healthcare provider.
  • Implement nursing care plans as directed by the RN or authorized healthcare provider.
  • Document and communicate patients' responses to care plans, medications, and treatments, including monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Assist in revising nursing care plans as necessary.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families.
  • Participate positively in the orientation of new staff members, sharing knowledge and experiences.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development within the nursing field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current Ohio License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through AHA required upon hire or within one year for those working in the Emergency Department.

Experience:

  • Preferred: One year of patient care experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform full body motion to lift and move patients, with manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
  • Extensive standing and walking required.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges are necessary.
  • Medium Work: Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
