Position Overview:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Emergency Department, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to a diverse patient population. Under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, you will assist in various patient care activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and document both objective and subjective patient data and observations.
- Assist in the nursing assessment by providing relevant health information to the supervising RN or healthcare provider.
- Implement nursing care plans as directed by the RN or authorized healthcare provider.
- Monitor and document patient responses to care and treatments, including any adverse reactions.
- Participate in revising nursing care plans based on patient needs.
- Educate patients and their families about care plans and health management.
- Support the orientation of new staff members by sharing knowledge and experiences.
- Engage in ongoing professional development within the nursing field.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
- Current Ohio LPN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA is required for those working in the Emergency Department, either upon hire or within the first year.
Experience:
- Preferred: One year of experience in patient care.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform full body motion to assist and lift patients.
- Requires manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
- Extensive standing and walking are necessary.
- Medium Work: Must be able to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
