Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a vital member of our organization, the role of a Child Behavior Consultant involves leading and inspiring team members in reflective behavioral support. You will be instrumental in fostering a culturally responsive, inclusive, and developmentally suitable learning atmosphere for both children and colleagues. This position encompasses a combination of direct assistance for children, collaboration with staff and families, assessment and intervention strategies, as well as professional growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver hands-on assistance to children whose behaviors hinder their ability to engage comfortably and appropriately in classroom activities and special occasions or pose safety or health risks to themselves or others, as identified by the Special Needs Manager.
  • Assist teaching personnel in the planning and execution of The Pyramid Model Framework.
  • Collaborate with staff encountering challenges to ensure classroom-based practices are implemented effectively.
  • Enhance staff mental wellness by providing reflective supervision.
  • Play a crucial role in supporting site staff, children, and families throughout the multi-tiered system of support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, child development, or a closely related field, with coursework in early childhood development required.
  • A minimum of two years of direct experience with children (ages 0-5) facing mental health or behavioral challenges.
  • Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards and State of Michigan Child Care Licensing Rules is preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
