KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will be accountable for receiving, processing, packaging, and dispatching blood products/samples for hospital requests. You will prioritize orders based on urgency, select and meticulously package life-saving blood products with appropriate temperature-regulating materials to ensure safe transport. You will liaise with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors, while maintaining product records to ensure traceability.

As a member of the Red Cross team, you will support your colleagues—showing up for every shift and giving your best effort while present. Engage in a positive, proactive, and customer-oriented manner with both internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating care and compassion at all times.

Essential Duties

  • Ensure products/samples are appropriate for release for distribution, while achieving production targets.
  • Implement effective inventory management practices throughout the manufacturing and shipping processes.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet production and customer needs.
  • Conduct data entry related to further manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintain and review accurate physical and electronic manufacturing records.
  • Analyze and make decisions based on visual inspections and information provided by other departments to meet time constraints and quality standards.
  • Identify and isolate products/samples that do not meet quality standards, and manage the disposition of unacceptable products.
  • May perform hospital deliveries as assigned.

The aforementioned responsibilities of the Distribution Technician outline the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list.

Standard Schedule: 4 ten-hour shifts, 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

Compensation: $20.00 per hour, plus an additional $2.25/hour for hours worked after 11:00 PM.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in a regulatory, distribution, or manufacturing environment is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Position may require a valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Attention to detail, warehouse/inventory experience is advantageous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires standing, stretching, stooping, and bending for extended periods. Ability to lift, pull, push, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time. May be required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, face shields, etc.
