Job Overview

The Fitness Director is responsible for ensuring that the fitness department achieves its sales objectives while adhering to budgetary constraints. This role involves overseeing all aspects of fitness programming, including marketing initiatives to drive participation in fitness assessments and complimentary personal training sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to meet monthly fitness assessment and complimentary session targets.
  • Lead the fitness team in converting a significant percentage of assessment participants into program enrollments.
  • Guarantee that all members receive tailored programming and support to help them achieve their health and wellness goals.
  • Foster a positive member experience through effective coaching and guidance from fitness staff.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations and manage staff hours to control costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff certifications and ensure ongoing training for all fitness personnel.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Engage with new members to facilitate their onboarding and ensure they attend their initial assessments.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of fitness facilities and equipment.
  • Monitor financial performance of fitness programming and prepare payroll for fitness staff.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Must possess a nationally recognized certification in fitness, such as N.A.S.M., N.S.C.A., A.C.S.M., A.C.E., or A.F.A.A., along with current CPR certification.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in a health or fitness-related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year in personal training, with management and sales experience being advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to lift moderate to heavy weights regularly.

Additional Duties:

  • Ensure that all trainers are certified and maintain their credentials.
  • Facilitate ongoing education for the fitness team in areas such as program design and nutrition.
  • Ensure proper scheduling and coverage for fitness staff.
  • Document client progress through assessments and testimonials.

The Fitness Director plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of health and fitness within the organization, ensuring that both staff and members are supported in their wellness journeys.
