Position Summary

The Allergy Injection Room/Front Office Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality nursing care while adhering to the standards set by the organization. This position requires effective collaboration with management and staff, ensuring a respectful and professional environment. The nurse will provide direct patient care, engage in departmental initiatives, and advocate for patient well-being while complying with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the injection area each day for patient services.
  • Administer allergy injections to patients.
  • Restock supplies and manage inventory according to clinic protocols.
  • Maintain daily logs of patient charges and reconcile at the end of the day.
  • Collect patient co-pays and issue receipts.
  • Timely reordering of medication vials as necessary.
  • Organize and manage refrigerated medications appropriately.
  • Monitor and log refrigerator temperatures daily.
  • Review shot cards monthly and dispose of expired medications.
  • Ensure patient consent forms are completed and explain policies to new patients.
  • Educate patients regarding first injection protocols.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Remain on-site for 30 minutes post-injection before concluding the workday.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the waiting and play areas.
  • Possess knowledge of medications and treatment protocols.
  • Conduct monthly checks on emergency medications and reorder as needed.
  • Effectively implement emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Carry out triage responsibilities as required.
  • Assist with the closing procedures of the office.
  • Front Office Duties:
  • Manage patient check-in/out processes and collect co-pays.
  • Schedule patient appointments efficiently.
  • Answer phone calls as needed.
  • Prepare end-of-day clinic charge reports.
  • Update patient insurance information and make copies as required.

Qualifications

Skills and Competencies

Strong communication skills are essential, including:

  • Fluency in reading and speaking English.
  • Ability to interpret safety documents, policies, and patient care plans.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with staff and patients.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Active LPN/RN license in Ohio or eNLC multistate nursing license.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a medical office environment.
  • Preferred experience in allergy or asthma care.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Successful completion of background checks and screenings.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to interact positively with patients.
  • Capability to work independently.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with EMR systems.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This role involves physical demands that may include:

  • Regular use of hands for handling tools and equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and bending throughout the shift.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements including close and distance vision.
  • Effective communication abilities to interact with patients and staff.

Work Environment

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level with standard lighting. Employees may encounter infectious materials and allergens during their duties.
