Role Summary

The Allergy Injection Room/Front Office Nurse is tasked with exhibiting expertise and executing responsibilities within their professional scope. This role operates under the guidance of management and interacts respectfully with all staff levels. The nurse provides direct patient care during designated hours, engages in departmental initiatives, fosters patient independence, and adheres to attendance policies. They advocate for patient quality of life while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards, thereby supporting the core values of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the injection room each morning
  • Administer allergy injections
  • Restock supplies as necessary and order materials following clinic protocols
  • Maintain a daily log of charges and finalize totals at the end of the day
  • Collect patient co-pays and issue receipts
  • Timely reorder vials as needed
  • Organize refrigerated vials appropriately
  • Document daily refrigerator temperatures
  • Monitor shot cards monthly and dispose of expired vials
  • Ensure signed consent forms and explain injection room policies to new patients
  • Educate patients regarding first injection procedures
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and policies
  • Remain on-site for 30 minutes post-injection before breaks
  • Maintain cleanliness in toy and lobby areas
  • Possess knowledge of all medications and treatment protocols
  • Monthly check of emergency medications and reorder as necessary
  • Effectively manage emergency procedures and protocols
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned by management
  • Conduct and complete triage tasks
  • Assist with the regular closing of the office
  • Front Office Duties:
  • Check patients in and out, collecting co-pays
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Answer phone calls as needed
  • Generate end-of-day clinic charge reports
  • Copy and update patient insurance information as required

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

Effective communication skills, including:

  • Fluency in reading and speaking English
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, handbooks, policies, patient care plans, and procedural manuals
  • Effective verbal and written communication with all staff and patients

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing - LPN/RN with an active and unrestricted Ohio Nursing License or an eNLC multistate nursing license
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience in a medical office environment
  • Preferred experience in allergy or asthma care
  • CPR certification is mandatory
  • Valid Driver's License is required
  • Active CPR Certification
  • Successful completion of background checks and screenings
  • Ability to travel to various locations as needed
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to interact positively with patients
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Prior experience with EMR systems is advantageous
