Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage safety and service performance, operating practices, and financial performance of railroad operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental laws, as well as adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Lead the execution of railroad operations to meet or exceed budget and financial goals.
  • Develop and implement new business opportunities, ensure excellent customer service, and expand business relationships.
  • Select, train, manage, and coach employees to achieve high performance standards.
  • Implement company policies and procedures, and promote company core values within and outside the organization.
  • Evaluate railroad asset requirements and capital improvement projects to improve performance and asset utilization.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance standards and positive employee relations within the railroad.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and interchange partners.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of work experience in the railroad industry with supervisory duties.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FRA regulations required.
  • Current/prior railroad budget management experience required.
  • Current/prior railroad Conductor required and Railroad Engineer Certification preferred.
  • Strong management and customer relations skills required.
Work Environment:

The Operations Manager will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong problem-solving and time management skills. The position may involve extended periods of time away from home and short rest between assignments. The candidate must be able to work safely and wear protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety steel-toe boots, or safety glasses.
