Entergy's Power Generation division manages a portfolio of over 30 owned, leased, or operated plants, including natural gas, coal, oil, hydro, solar, and petroleum coke facilities, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. We continue to invest in new hydrogen-capable natural gas units, solar, wind, and other technologies to enhance our existing nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar resources.

*This position may be filled as a Maintenance Operator (MO), MO 1, 2, 3, 4, Journeyman Maintenance Operator (JMO), or MO Tech based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.*

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Under general supervision, with some latitude for planning and execution, must be capable of performing basic mechanical tasks related to the inspection, repair, installation, testing, adjustment, and calibration of meters and instruments, as well as automatic combustion control equipment and regulating devices in generating facilities.
  • Must be able to perform basic electrical tasks involving the inspection, repair, or installation of electrical equipment in generating facilities and substations, both in the shop and in situ.
  • Must be capable of performing basic mechanical tasks related to the inspection, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment in generating facilities.
  • Must be able to take responsibility for operating equipment within a centrally controlled turbo-generator-boiler system and its associated fuel handling facilities during a designated shift.
  • Depending on the employee's secondary skill set, they may be required to perform complex duties in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation and control skills, as well as simpler tasks in other areas as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

MO: No prior experience required.

JMO - MO Tech: Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience and be qualified as a maintenance operator or possess equivalent experience in power plant operations and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with the fundamental principles of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and regulating devices used in generating plants.
  • Proficiency in the use and terminology of tools and equipment commonly utilized.
  • Ability to understand and execute operations of average complexity where standard procedures are available.
  • Working knowledge of the operation, function, and construction of steam boilers, turbo-generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, and their controls and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to visualize and sketch from memory a flow diagram of main piping systems.
  • Working knowledge of rotating electrical equipment, switches, transformers, instruments, control, and accessory equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to administer approved resuscitation methods and provide practical first aid.
  • Familiarity with the location and operation of all fire-fighting equipment.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

MO: Minimum age of 18.

JMO - MO Tech: Minimum age requirements:
  • Must possess full mental and physical faculties.
  • Must have adequate strength and endurance for physically demanding tasks as required.

  • Be vigilant in identifying hazards and preventing accidents.
  • Willingness to participate in safety meetings.
  • Ability to work under various conditions, including unusual circumstances.
  • Flexibility to work irregular or additional hours as necessary.

  • Maintain a neat and orderly appearance in work and personal conduct.
  • Understand the importance of providing and maintaining exceptional service to all customers.
