Job Objective:
Assists the Store Manager in overseeing store personnel; managing production and sales; maintaining store conditions; fostering customer relationships; and executing banking and record-keeping tasks. Supports the Manager in the daily operations of the assigned thrift store.
Essential Functions:

Assists in staff training and supervision as needed. Engages in recruiting and interviewing store personnel as assigned.
Participates in staff scheduling, monitors accuracy, and submits payroll for processing as assigned.
Ensures compliance with all TSA policies and practices regarding employee relations.
Timely forwards all employment-related documents to the HR Department at the ARC.
Provides training, supervision, and support to beneficiaries assigned to the store as part of their work therapy.
Supports the execution of strategies to achieve production and sales targets. Oversees the product acquisition (donation) processes, production (sorting, hanging, pricing, and presentation) processes, and sales processes.
Is proficient in all aspects of the acquisition, production, and sales processes.
Monitors the product rotation process and diligently manages product turnover.
Communicates with the central warehouse to place orders for the next day's processing needs.
Assists the manager in maintaining the store's safety, security, cleanliness, appearance, and utility.
Identifies and communicates with the manager regarding ways to enhance the store's appearance and appeal to customers.
Implements Product Control Procedures to prevent shrinkage due to theft or spoilage.
Promptly reports all maintenance or repair needs to the store manager and, when unavailable, to the appropriate personnel at the ARC.
Implements customer development and retention strategies. Creates a pleasant shopping experience.Interacts positively with customers, setting a standard for all staff.
Assists the manager in recordkeeping and reporting for the store. Applies TSA-approved cash handling procedures for register operations.
Assists in managing bank runs and deposit procedures for the store.
Reports store production and sales as assigned.
Utilizes inventory tracking as assigned.
Communicates with the Store Manager regarding all aspects of store operations, keeping them informed and sharing incidents, concerns, and ideas; collaborates with ARC Department Heads as outlined in training as assigned.
Must be available for a flexible schedule to work early shifts, late shifts, and most weekends, to observe and provide training to all store employees.
In partnership with the store manager, proactively works to enhance the image of The Salvation Army among staff and in the community.
Addresses complaints and criticism by providing education and understanding of the program and pricing.
Safeguards the resources under their supervision. Implements Product Control Procedures to prevent shrinkage due to theft or spoilage.
Controls property, utility, and product supply waste.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
The requirements listed below represent the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Two years of retail experience; thrift experience is a plus. An Associate's Degree is advantageous.
Experience:
Retail experience and experience in following and providing direction.
Certifications:
Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from the bank.
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to speak, write, and understand English sufficiently for effective communication with customers, management, and co-workers.
Basic computer skills, including but not limited to the use of the Point of Sales System, payroll program, and all other programs or systems adopted by the TSA ARC.
Ability to provide accurate change.Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides direction to staff as assigned or in the absence of a manager or assistant manager. Documents and reports any behavioral or attitude concerns to management.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.Travel:
May be required to travel to various locations for work or training.
Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position is a store setting with a quiet to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather. May stand for extended periods. Full-Time or Part-Time position; will require weekend and evening hours.
