About Algiers Charter School Association

Since our establishment, Algiers Charter has been a cornerstone in the educational sector. We operate under the conviction that every student can attain academic success. As a dual-school organization, our dedication to excellence and student achievement remains unwavering.

As we advance strategically, we are in search of dynamic educational leaders with a proven history of success to elevate our organization.

The educational environment in New Orleans demands significant performance and accountability.

Our strategic plan for the future includes unique operational, staffing, and instructional designs, so if you are prepared to align with our vision and commitment to student achievement, we encourage you to consider joining our team.

Success in This Role

Algiers Charter's approach to education emphasizes a continuous improvement cycle that focuses on planning, executing, reflecting, and refining practices.

Our institutions are transitioning to a more intricate conceptual framework that involves analyzing, synthesizing, hypothesizing, understanding, and making connections daily.

Algiers Charter educators are part of the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP), a pioneering initiative aimed at attracting, developing, and retaining talented individuals in the teaching profession.

Continuous professional development, combined with robust support, is essential for achieving optimal results for students in a positive work environment.

Success is defined by enhanced student achievement, a professional demeanor, and the school-wide attainment of performance goals.

Student Engagement

(Are all students actively participating in the lesson from beginning to end?)

Nearly all students complete instructional tasks, volunteer responses, and/or pose relevant questions.

Almost all students adhere to behavioral expectations and/or directions.

Students navigate transitions, routines, and procedures efficiently with minimal guidance from the educator.

The class maintains a brisk pace, and students are engaged in the lesson from start to finish.

All activities students participate in are aligned with the stated or implied learning objectives and are well-sequenced to guide students toward mastery of the grade-level standards and/or IEP goals.

All instructional materials utilized by students, such as texts, questions, problems, exercises, and assessments, are of high quality and appropriately challenging for the grade/course and time of year, based on guidance in the standards and/or student IEP goals.

Performs other duties as necessary.

Academic Ownership

(Are all students responsible for their own learning in this classroom?)

Most students provide meaningful oral or written evidence to support their reasoning.

Students engage in an appropriately challenging amount of cognitive work during the lesson, such as reading, writing, discussion, analysis, computation, or problem-solving, given the lesson's focus.

Students respond to and build upon their peers' thoughts, ideas, or answers.

Students routinely offer constructive feedback to classmates and respond productively when a peer answers incorrectly or disagrees with a response.

Almost all students consistently strive to complete academic tasks and answer questions, even when the work is challenging.

Demonstration of Learning

(Do all students show evidence of their learning?)

Questions, tasks, or assessments provide data that enable the educator to evaluate student progress toward learning objectives and identify areas of misunderstanding.

Students have ample opportunities to express their learning through academic writing and/or explanations using academic language.
