High School Science Educator

Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans is seeking a qualified High School Science Teacher to join our team. As a High School Science Teacher, you will be responsible for providing science instruction to students in grades in High School.
Responsibilities:- Provide science instruction to students in grades in High School
- Assist the instructional process in its many forms
- Support school-wide instructional initiatives
- Implement the French Ministry of Education Science curriculum along with Louisiana Science Standards
- Gather student data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and design strategies to meet student needs
- Create daily lesson plans and learning activities for students based on national, local, and school standards in science education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviors
- Design and deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, demonstrations, labs, and projects using a variety of proven methods
- Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency, or level of interest in the subject
- Evaluate student performance on tasks established by the standards using different methods such as observation, performance-based tasks, or other standard test practices
- Improve skills and knowledge in teaching by regularly taking classes, attending workshops, and discovering new methods of delivering exciting content to students
- Maintain an accurate and current gradebook, tracking student data, and drafting report cards
- Conduct school-wide benchmark and state assessments
- Assist in the delivery of curriculum that utilizes community resources to enrich the learning experiences of students
- Plan and chaperone field trips and projects related to Lycée's Thinking Outside the Classroom Program
- Effectively communicate with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, and parents regarding student performance and plans for improvement
- Participate in SBLC, IEP, and 504 meetings as needed
- Support students and administration in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support philosophy
- Assist students in adopting a behavior conducive to success in the classroom setting
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional learning communities meetings
- Assist in orientation and open houses if requested
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities
- Perform other job-related functions as may be assigned
- Be punctual and review and follow all Staff Handbook policies and procedures
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Experience in instruction in an elementary, middle, or secondary school setting
- Flexibility and a team-spirit work ethic
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Remain current with Louisiana Student Standards and other instructional requirements
- Ability to work in a diverse environment with a multicultural team
- Ability to learn and adapt to new curriculum (French Ministry of Education science curriculum)
- Louisiana Certification
- Three or more years teaching experience
- Fluency in French
- Experience in differentiating instruction and supporting students with learning challenges
