Position Summary:

The Corporate Accounting Director will play a crucial role in overseeing our financial and accounting operations. In a rapidly growing organization experiencing 50% CAGR, we are dedicated to immediate execution while strategically planning for future expansion. This position entails the development of new processes and procedures as the organization evolves, as well as optimizing our ERP system for enhanced efficiency and improved internal controls. This role will be instrumental in supporting and driving our ambitious growth objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in both early-stage and established organizations, bringing best practices from both settings. A strong commitment to our mission of delivering high-quality education to students and educators is essential. While experience in hyperscale environments is not mandatory, the candidate must demonstrate the skills and mindset necessary to navigate the company through substantial growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership in Accounting: Manage all facets of accounting, including directing month-end closing processes, overseeing revenue accounting (ASC 606), general ledger (G/L), cash management, equity and debt accounting, tax compliance, consolidation, and financial reporting.
  • Internal Controls and Reporting: Establish and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting. This includes preparing account reconciliations, supervising transaction reviews, and training personnel. Support financial decision-making by creating, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Generate monthly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Technical Accounting Compliance: Investigate and resolve technical accounting issues to ensure adherence to company policies and GAAP guidelines in areas such as goodwill, investments, leases, share-based compensation, revenue recognition, foreign currency, and software CAPEX. Prepare relevant documentation.
  • Implementation of Standards: Facilitate and coordinate the adoption of new accounting standards and changes, ensuring the organization is ready to comply as necessary.
  • Audit Management: Oversee annual and periodic audit engagements, including the timely and accurate preparation of audits, footnotes to financial statements, and consolidations.
  • Internal Control Procedures: Develop and uphold effective internal control procedures to protect assets and ensure the integrity of financial information. Conduct regular reviews and internal audits of financial processes to identify areas for enhancement and efficiency.
  • Process and System Design: Design, document, and implement finance and accounting processes and systems.
  • Collaboration with FP&A: Work alongside Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to analyze and summarize business and financial results for senior management.
  • Fiscal and Operational Effectiveness: Contribute to the organization's financial health, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Team Development: Build and nurture a high-performance accounting team. Establish and continuously refine business processes and procedures to drive scalability in a high-growth environment.
  • Leadership and Growth: Mentor and guide team members, support their career aspirations, conduct development discussions, and assign meaningful tasks to foster their professional growth.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field. CPA certification is highly preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of seven years of experience, including a senior-level accounting role.
  • Industry Expertise: Significant experience in public accounting and working with large U.S.-based multinational corporations is highly valued.
  • Technical Accounting Knowledge: Exceptional understanding of complex accounting principles and practices, particularly US GAAP.
  • Startup Experience: Proven ability to address challenges in early-stage companies and establish processes and procedures from the ground up to support growth trajectories.
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in utilizing and implementing financial management software and ERP systems.
  • Communication and Improvement: Strong written and verbal communication skills with extensive experience in internal control and process enhancement.
  • Project Management: Excellent time and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to remain focused yet adaptable.
